Friends, Family, and Halloween

Hey everyone! So, we have a lot of pictures of Hyrum, but I will try to not post too many similar pictures of him. Here they are!

This is our friend Jesse holding Hyrum in one of his many interesting sleeping positions:
Our friends Andelyn and Steve had a little girl about six weeks before Hyrum was born. Her name is Scarlett, but look how they're about the same size!

My sister Mindi came and helped me with Hyrum and took care of me while I was recovering for a weekend, and she was super helpful. Thanks Moe!

Here's a picture of Hyrum's first real bath, where he was actually submerged in water. It went really well until we shampooed his hair. Then he screamed.

Ryan and I bought Hyrum's Halloween costume yesterday! He is a cute little monkey, and super good at being one.

Ryan blessed Hyrum on Sunday, and we are so grateful to all the family that came! We love you!

Ryan's family was in town from North Dakota for the blessing, and this was pretty much how they were with Hyrum the whole time:

Hyrum really doesn't sleep very well without being swaddled, so we love the swaddlers we received. Thanks! Sometimes, however, he still manages to get his arms out, as shown here:

I realized there are like no pictures of me with Hyrum, probably because I don't look very good in them. But, I was determined to get one taken, so here it is:

Fun Facts About Hyrum

Well, Hyrum has been in our family for about two weeks now, and in that time I have learned a lot about him (which makes sense, considering I spend all day, every day with him). Sorry if my posts are going to be about him too much, but he really is just the cutest thing ever. Also, a mother has bragging rights I think. So here we go, fun facts about Hyrum:

1. He was born October 2nd, 2009 at 7:41pm a week and one day past my due date.
2. He weighed eight pounds one ounce at birth and was 20 inches long.
3. He had to breathe on a machine for the first hour of his life just to make sure he wasn't working too hard to breathe.
4. He came pre-circumcised (I think it was to save his mom and dad some money).
5. He has really long fingers and big hands, which is funny because both Ryan and I have stubby little fingers.
6. His feet are also large, and hardly fit into the 0-3 month socks we bought. The newborn socks didn't have a chance.
7. He prefers Mam pacifiers, no matter how much I try to give him other brands.
8. He is a great sleeper, hence why I have the time to update the blog.
9. I think he has my nose and Ryan's chin. The rest is to be determined.
10. He has a diamond-shaped cowlick in the front of his hair. I'm interested to see how it will look when he has more hair.
11. I have to wake him up basically every time I have to feed him which is no easy task.
12. He loves the BYU football team.
13. He is really good at focusing and following with his eyes. If you ever get a chance to hold him when he's awake, you'll see how much he studies your face.
14. He smiles! A lot in his sleep and when he's nursing. Yes, I know it's involuntary but it's still darn cute.
15. He's a pretty good mover too- he can roll to either side and tries to jump up Ryan's shoulder.
16. When he has a bowel movement, you know it. You hear it and smell it's awfulness immediately! That's when I know to hand him over to Ryan :)

There's tons more, I just can't think of them right now. Anyways, here's some pictures of the little cutie (um, the rest are at the top):
